[Macau \u2013 09 August, 2024] \u201cVibrant Art of Macau”, a captivating exhibition showcasing the vibrant art scene of Macau is set to enthrall art enthusiasts and culture connoisseurs alike. Featuring the latest works created by four exceptionally talented young local artists – Alley Leong Tin I, PIBG2038, Julia Lam Tsz Kwan and Siomeng Chan – the exhibition promises a unique exploration of contemporary art in Macau. Through their artwork, four artists aim to spark dialogues, inspire creativity, and evoke a deeper appreciation for the art scene in Macau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening ceremony was held on August 9, welcoming esteemed guests from the community including: Ms. Angela Leong, Member of Macau Legislative Assembly and President of Dr. Stanley Ho Foundation; Ms. Susanna Un Sio San, Director of the Macao Museum of Art, Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR; Mr. Hua Yuzhou, Founder and Art Director of Humarish Club; along with participating artists Ms Alley Leong Tin I, Mr. PIBG 2038, Ms Julia Lam Tsz Kwan, as well as Mr. Siomeng Chan jointly officiating the ceremony.

About Alley Leong Tin I:<\/strong>
Alley is a self-taught painter and started her career as an artist in 2021 based in Macau. In her early 20’s, Alley discovered that her love of drawing could be perfectly combined with the ancient craft of tattooing to create custom tattoos for clients who wanted something unique on their skin. After working as a professional tattoo artist for six years, Alley decided to stop working in tattooing and start pursuing a full-time career as a painter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alley’s instantly recognizable paintings are often inspired by Buddhism and spiritual teachings. Most of the elements in her paintings are very similar to the making of a thangka. However, unlike the rules of thangkas, Alley’s paintings thus allowing her to better express her endless ideas. Her works often include eccentric figures, multi-dimensional worlds of technicolor combinations, and more. Her distinctive personal style emanates joy and peace and expresses the vibrant spirit and atmosphere of the three thousand boundless universes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About PIBG2038:<\/strong>
PIBG2038 is a graffiti artist as well as the organizer of \u2018Outloud\u2019 international street art festival in Macau. With his artist career for over 20 years, his work is filled with stylized character that look playful and outstanding vision, with contrasting bright colors to show vitality. Since 2000, he has travelled worldwide for creative activities and participates in a dozen of collective exhibitions and art projects, his artwork was collected by Macau Museum of Art and participated in \u2018The light festival Macau\u2019 projection mapping on San Domingo’s Church Macao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2004, he joined a couple of graffiiti artists and founded GANTZ5, Macau\u2019s first graffiti art group, which has become one of the most influential associations in China’s graffiti scene. He has in collaborations with many international brands included Dior, Balenciaga, Miu Miu and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Julia Lam Tsz Kwan:<\/strong>
Julia is a creative artist who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, she is one of the active painting and planning practitioners of the new generation of young Macau artists. Her paintings have been exhibited at the Macau Science and Culture Centre in Lisbon (Portugal), the National Art Museum of China (Beijing), The Little Lodge (USA) and the Macau Art Museum. Her works are collected by the Macau Art Museum and private institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2020, Julia combined her water color skill and offset printing plate-making techniques to create a new \u201csuper-flat\u201d series, with overlapping and infiltrating particle by spray and brushes of acrylics, reshaping the objects by her imagination through geometry and proportion, to develop her own visual context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Siomeng Chan:<\/strong>
As an artist born and raised in Macau, Siomeng has carved a distinct path in the realm of contemporary art. Profoundly influenced by the captivating works of Japanese animation master Hayao Miyazaki during his formative years, Siomeng’s creations often harbor a whimsical fascination and mystique with the natural world. His boundless creativity and diverse collaborative projects have earned him widespread recognition within the artistic community.

After graduating from the Design Department at the Macau Polytechnic University, Siomeng established his personal studio, “The Dino Workshop,” in 2017. In recent years, his original character, Dino, has gained immense popularity and become a hallmark of his artistic repertoire. Beyond collaborating with the renowned brand Uniqlo, he has also partnered with the Macau Post and Telecommunications Bureau to launch the first Dino IP character stamp series in Macau. In 2020, Siomeng co-founded the “Semi- Cooked 50% TOY” brand with designer Kay Tung, focusing on the creative direction of art and toys, swiftly capturing the attention of art enthusiasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
